IFTA splits your fuel by miles. Stateline divides your total miles by your total gallons to get fleet MPG, turns each state's miles into taxable gallons, subtracts the tax-paid gallons you bought there, and multiplies by that state's rate. A positive number is owed to that state; a negative one is a credit.
Rates are compiled by hand from each state's own published rate for the quarter, with the source linked next to it. A rate shows as verified only after that check. States that suspended their fuel tax for part of the quarter stay unverified, with the dates shown next to them. Surcharges (for example in Indiana, Kentucky and Virginia) are noted but not included in the total yet.
This is an estimate to prepare your return. You still file with your base jurisdiction, and you keep your trip records and receipts.
